iWatch to iSupport Frontliners

“I am running out of NETFLIX movies to watch after being under home quarantine for more than two weeks now. I refuse to be a passive bystander while our “frontline heroes” literally put their lives at risk while keeping us all safe.”

Dabs Liban, Social Development Professional and Consultant

It is simply in Dabs Liban’s DNA to respond to social crisis. Supposedly enjoing his semi-retirement after a long career of service in sustainable development, the Covid19 health crisis lit a spark inside him. And that spark spread like fire in just one week – and Tulong Tulog was born!

March 26 | FRONTLINES NEEDING A PLACE TO LAY THEIR HEADS AT NIGHT

His wife had a friend who owned 3 4-storey buildings in muntinlupa which can accommodate a total of 50 frontliner heroes. They needed single-size mattresses, bed covers and pillows.

“Have I not commanded you – be strong and courages! Do not be afraid and be discouraged. For the Lord your God is with you wherever you go.” (Joshua 1.9)

March 28 | FIRE OF BAYANIHAN SPREADS RAPIDLY

Through a simple shout out on facebook, Dabs and his wife received pledges for 96 beds, 4 hospital beds, 6 boxes of oxygen masks and 6 boxes of nebulizer kits. Another potential donor was getting approval for 100 beds for frontliners, while another group pledged to donate military -grade tents.

“I can do all things through Christ who gives me strength.” – Philippians 4.13

APRIL 1 | MIRACLES OF NO JOKE ON APRIL FOOL’S DAY

Before Dabs even realized it, the building was ready for inspection of the Ospital ng Muntinlupa team . The goal was to make it livable and comfortable for 45 medical staff for the next 2 to 3 weeks. Other missing items were a fridge, kitchen and dining wares and some table and chairs. In just 3 days, everything we needed were provided.

“What a day! Better than watching NETFLIX. May all glory be yours, my King and my Lord!”

APRIL 7 | BUILDING EMERGENCY QUARANTINE FACILITIES

With the Covid19 cases continuously on the rise, our limited medical facilities may leave some patients with no place to stay during observation. Way beyond retrofiting spaces, Dabs in now working on building EMERGENCY QUARANTINE FACILITIES, starting with Ospital ng Muntinlupa.

Currently two Emergency Quarantine Facilities are being constructed at Ospital ng Paranaque and Ospital ng Muntinlupa, while funds are already designated for Emergency Quarantine Facilities at Ospital ng Las Pinas and a pledge for Sta. Ana Hospital and Ospital ng Maynila.

Want to help, here’s how!

DOING THE GOOD WORK THAT THE LORD HAS PREPARED IN ADVANCE FOR US TO DO

When we are meant to do something, it doesn’t matter where we are at in our lives. It is almost like being a soldier on-call – any minute, we are activated. This has always been so with Dabs’ life – devoted in service on the Lord’s will.

Through his service, he devoted his life to his calling as a development worker, with over 20 years of service with World Vision Philippines and multiple years with Habitat for Humanity Philippines.

Having known Dabs for many years, the summary of his life is simple – where God leads him, he follows.

  2. The first time I met you was in 1981 in College. Since then, I saw your passion to be of service to others. You have a big heart and compassion to offer help whenever needed. God has blessed your desire to serve humanity by placing you in strategic places where you are needed most. I’m sure God has still many roads prepared for you,,,roads not taken by others or even roads others are afraid to take. God bless you immensely. (This man was my husband’s Best Man in our wedding in 1990 and a ninong to our only child.) Hats off, to you, my friend!

  3. Reblogged this on Color My World and commented:
Dabs Liban is a good friend who I had the honor of working with in my previous job with Habitat for Humanity. He was supposed to have retired, but – much like after the devastation of Typhoon Yolanda – he saw the need to help out. He is back in the fray. Doing what he loves best. Which is to serve God by doing good work for our people.
